How many of us are guilty of spending our weekends binging reality TV shows? All of us, right? Well, If you’re anything like me, then you have spent your fair share of weekends in pajamas, eating your way through an entire Ben and Jerry’s ice cream carton, while reveling in the never-ending drama that plagues the Kardashian crew. I mean… there is absolutely nothing wrong with a little reality TV but why not spend your weekend reading a binge-worthy book instead? I know you’re probably thinking BUT HOW CAN I GET KOURTNEY VS SCOTT LEVEL DRAMA FROM A BOOK?!!!! Never Fear! The list of every reality show situation is here!
Scroll through the list to find your favorite show and its recommended read!
1. COPS // WHAT I NEED BY J. DANIELS
Alright, guys, we are taking to WAAAAY back for this first recommendation but COPS is one of the very first “reality” shows that I can remember watching so why not go OLD SCHOOL with our first book! If you like the excitement of COPS then you will LOVE What I Need by J. Daniels. After all, doesn’t everyone love a man in uniform?
2. LOVE AND HIP HOP // GRIP BY KENNEDY RYAN
UHM I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH. I don’t know what it is about Love and Hip Hop but I started binging it one day and COULD NOT STOP. I was totally obsessed from the very start and that is exactly how I felt while reading GRIP by Kennedy Ryan. This story pulls you right in and before you know it, you’ve read 200 pages and its 3 am and you CANT SLEEP UNTIL YOU FINISH. Plus GRIP features that amazing hip-hop vibe that I can’t seem to get enough of!
3. THE VOICE // MAYBE SOMEDAY BY COLLEEN HOOVER
What’s better than a man that can sing? The only correct answer to that question is a man that can sing AND play guitar. Enter Ridge from Maybe Someday. He doesn’t sing but imagine if he could! He already has it all and then some. If he were on the voice, all of the judges would turn around and beg him to be on their team. Don’t believe me? Read it and see for yourself! This is probably in my top 3 favorite books of all time and I am IN LOVE with Ridge… but I’m willing to share… begrudgingly.
4. KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS // PAPER PRINCESS BY ERIN WATT
No family in Hollywood is as notorious for their lavish lifestyle, big personalities, and even bigger drama as the Kardashians. If you are a fan of a strong family dynamic with lots of relationship drama, not unlike KUWTK, then you will absolutely love Paper Princess by Erin Watt. Steamy and unpredictable, this book will take you on more twists and turns than Kim’s birthday trip to Vegas!!!
5. DEADLIEST CATCH // DIRTY ROWDY THING BY CHRISTINA LAUREN
This is a slightly more obscure show that I’m not totally sure you guys watch, but I LIVE for it. It is thrilling and exciting and is full of super-duper manly men, which is why it pairs perfectly with DIRTY ROWDY THING by Christina Lauren. Those of you who have read this might be thinking that this pairing is a bit ‘on the nose’ but you can’t deny that it works! I never knew ropes could be so sexy ?
6. CAKE BOSS // BUNS BY ALICE CLAYTON
Cake Boss is a hilarious show that is founded on family history and dessert, what’s not to love about that? The same could be said about BUNS by Alice Clayton. Not only are her books totally swoon-worthy but she is the QUEEN of hilarious romances! If strong family ties and a great sense of humor is your thing, be sure to grab a copy of BUNS.
7. THE REAL HOUSEWIVES // THE FORTUNATE ONES BY R.S. GREY
I have watched almost every season of EVERY city of Housewives that Bravo will give me. I have no shame about it. I have spent hundreds (okay maybe thousands?) of hours watching the elite ladies of each city battle it out in the fanciest of restaurants, yachts, and country clubs and it gives me LIFE. So you can imagine how ecstatic I was to get the same feeling of pure joy while reading The Fortunate Ones by R.S. Grey. It has the wealth, romance, and sweet sweet angst that we get from Bravo’s Housewives franchise! Seriously, this is a must-read.
8. BIG BROTHER // ROOMIES BY CHRISTINA LAUREN
Oh, my GOD. I am a huge big brother fan and every year I spend HOURS watching total strangers live together and slowly become friends… and sometimes enemies but there is nothing I love more than the inevitable showmances that sprout up. Each year they get juicier and it gives me so much happiness, which is probably why I’m OBSESSED with Roomies by Christina Lauren. Although it’s a little different from the big brother situation, it’s still amazing.
So now that you know all about my deep dark reality TV obsession, make me feel better by binging one of my recommendations! After all, a book doesn’t have any commercials. Happy Reading![line]
